2023 WCLO NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
- Playing field
We are proud to announce that the first annual WCLO National Championship will be held in Round Rock, Texas. Games will begin Wednesday, May 10th and a champion will be crowned on Friday, May 12th. The WCLO is composed of nearly 100 non-varsity collegiate teams. For our inaugural season, the tournament will feature 12 premier teams across the WCLO: 4 Automatic Qualifier bids and 8 At-Large bids.
This year, the WCLO National Championship will run concurrently with the MCLA Championship giving teams opportunities to have increased exposure to the sport like never before! The tournament will be held at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex.
Vice President of Competition, Ashley Nelsen, is ready to enter into a new era of competition with the WCLO. “The WCLO Committee and Tournament Director have been working tirelessly to provide a fresh and exciting tournament to truly reward all teams awarded the chance to play. Their intentional work, reflective of the WCLO Mission, will make this a personalized, special event for players and fans to enjoy! We are also grateful for the support from our sponsors, New Balance Lacrosse, Fern Web Design Services, the HEADstrong Foundation, and Brine who have helped bring our visions to life.”
Along with improved visibility for the sport, the WCLO is proud to announce our Championship Village. Teams are encouraged to utilize our complimentary Travel Concierge Service to help simplify planning and take some of the load off of team’s student-run executive boards. With the help of Kelci Balkom, teams will be able to easily book hotels, secure ground transportation for the length of your stay, and much more. Teams can use the link at the bottom of this article to begin all of their planning!
WCLO President, Jen Kramer, is excited to be a part of growth for non-varsity collegiate lacrosse, “These ladies and coaches have been working so hard all year to compete at this event. We are excited to create an event that showcases the talent and gives exposure to these athletes. We want to provide a competitive environment and an amazing experience that they won’t forget!”
Can’t make the trip to Texas? Stream your favorite teams live from anywhere in the country! Following our mission, the WCLO National Championship hopes to continue to provide the most visibility possible for non-varsity collegiate women’s lacrosse.
