Week 3 Rankings
In the blink of an eye, we are already on to Week 3 for the Women's Collegiate Lacrosse Organization! Many teams will head into Spring Break over the next few weeks slating lighter game schedules until mid March. We did however see three new teams enter the Top 20 (New Hampshire, Binghamton, and Marist) knocking out Oakland, Sacred Heart, and Fordham for this week.
The Top 4 remain constant with Loyola- Maryland receiving the most votes, Navy at second, St. Josephs at 3rd and St. Thomas at #4. Rounding out the top 5 is University of Vermont who moved up four spots after picking up 2 more wins this weekend putting them at 6-0 on the season.
Of those entering the poll for the first time this season, #11 New Hampshire takes the biggest leap after playing their first game of the season against #5 Vermont. The rivalry between these new NEWLL additions lived up to the hype with Vermont winning 7-5 over UNH. New Hampshire also claimed an 11-4 win over Tufts University. UNH will host Bates College and Colby College this Sunday, while Vermont will not see action again until the end of March. Also joining the Top 20 for the first time this season are Marist and Binghamton out of NEWLL. Binghamton took down Syracuse 8-4 for their first win of the season, while Marist added two wins against Stony Brook and Hofstra and tallying a loss to #7 Fairfield.
