WCLO National Championship- Championship Recap
WCLO Game National Championship Game – 11 May2024
Conditions for game: Morning game began at 830AM with 65-72 Deg F, partly cloudy, light breeze.
FINAL: 14 to 11 – Loyola earns National WCLO Championship WIN! (5th time for the past 5 consecutive years, their second under the WCLO umbrella).
Both teams kept us on the edge of seats in this neck and neck game. Though Loyola was in the lead at then end of each quarter, Fairfield did lead in the middle of 2nd quarter. Each team also had the ability to rotate their 2 goalies. Fairfield rostered 23 players with standouts: Goalie Maeve Vernon made 4 saves, and Emily Brady made 9 Saves. The Stags standouts and Goal scorers were: Grace Crisafulli 3 goals, Molly Rocco, Kacey McGorry, Mairead Kelly each earning 2 goals and each earning an assist, Cielle McInerney scoring 1 goal, 1 assist, 1 ground ball and 4 draw wins, Molly McMahon earning a goal, 3 ground balls, and 2 draw wins. The Greyhounds rostered 19 players with goal scorers and standouts: Emily Grob 4 goals, 1 assist, 3 ground balls, 6 draw wins, Alison Dammer and Lauren Imasa with 2 goals each, Isabel Sedwick 1 goal, 3 assists, 1 ground ball and 5 draw wins, Hannah Kleinbeck with 1 Goal and 3 assists, Bridget Sherer, Olivia Piazzoila, Grace Boudreau with a goal each and Grace Kelly with a goal and 3 ground balls. Goalie Sarah Sheridan made 6 saves and goalie Sarah Brooks made 3 saves and earned a take-away. The game was competitive and ran smoothly with 5 green card infractions. This final playoff game is one for the memory books.
